Michael Fisher and Malcolm Martindale (Letters, April 5) seem unaware that were it not for a certain Conservative "embracing the cause of ethnic minorities" and "valuing the freedom of the individual", Britain would have crumbled long ago.
His name? Winston Churchill, whose state funeral 37 years ago has been matched only by that of the Queen Mother.
