How lovely to read Irene Ansell's letter (April 4) regarding the That's Entertainment films shown recently on TV.

As I was a dancer in my youth, I just love seeing all those wonderful numbers again, performed by all the greats of singing and dancing.

As youngsters, we seemed a much happier lot than the young people of today. We used to copy the dresses of some of the young stars.

The lovely June Allyson with her beautiful smile and husky singing was one of our favourites.

June has many loyal fans in this country to this day.

As men "tappers" and dancers go, I consider Donald O'Connor (Singing In The Rain) second only to the great Astaire. Gene Kelly, known as "the dancing truck driver", was good but watch the routines in Singing In The Rain - Donald O'Connor made it all look so easy.

I would like to say a big thank you to all those stars who gave us so much happiness.
