I congratulate you on the sensitive coverage you gave to homophobic attack victim Graham Munday (March 27).
Like you, I was shocked some of the attackers were only 12 years old.
Despite their best intentions, teachers are prevented from discussing homosexuality in schools because of Section 28 of the Local Government Act, which contributes to making our education system institutionally homophobic.
Attacks such as the one Mr Munday suffered will continue unless teachers are given the opportunity to tackle homophobic playground bullying and explain the importance of lesbian and gay equality.
Therefore I hope your readers will join mine in urging Tony Blair to fulfil his election pledge of repealing Section 28 without delay.
