The front-page picture (The Argus, March 28) of two plainclothes police officers smashing a London drugs supply ring will do much to restore public confidence in Sussex Police. Well done.

It is more effective to have plainclothes police on the streets and leave high-profile crime prevention to less-expensive civilian uniformed security patrols.

In the same edition, the Right Reverend Kieran Conry was right to worry about Brighton and Hove following Blackpool to becoming a Las Vegas-style European gambling centre invaded by drug-dealing gangs from London, turning the resort into a hell-hole.
