Mark Loram was the star as Eastbourne Eagles roared to a 53-37 win over Elite League rivals Kings Lynn last night.

The former world champion proved unbeatable with a paid 15-point maximum as the Sussex outfit made it two wins out of two so far this season.

It was Eastbourne's biggest away win in the league since they beat Belle Vue by the same score in 2000 on their way to winning the championship.

The home side had no answer to Loram, one of their former riders, while there was also a happy return to Kings Lynn for Eagles' skipper Joe Screen.

He finished with a paid 13 at the track where he suffered a serious injury on his last visit nearly a year ago.

Loram, Stefan Andersson and Toni Svab all won their first two races as Eagles raced into a 21-9 lead after only five heats.

Although the Knights hit back with a maximum from Tom Madsen and tactical substitute man Nicki Pedersen in heat eight, the visitors remained in control.

Loram and Screen stormed to a 5-1 in heat 13 and then staged a repeat in the last race when Pedersen fell to complete the rout.

The in-form Svab again played a prominent role in Eastbourne's victory, ending the night with double figures.

Kings Lynn lost young Australian Travis McGowan, who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken wrist after a first-bend crash in heat five.

By then, however, Eagles were already in control.

Kings Lynn: Nicki Pedersen 10, Sebastian Ulamek 9, Tom Madsen 7, Freddie Eriksson 7, Emil Kramer 2, Travis McGowan 1, Artur Pietrzyk 1.

Eastbourne: Mark Loram 14, Joe Screen 12, Toni Svab 10, Dean Barker 7, Stefan Andersson 6, David Norris 2, Savalas Clouting 2.
