Eastbourne Borough's run in the Dr Martens League Cup ended at the semi final stage after a 2-1 defeat at Dorchester Town.

Although Borough played some good football in the first half, they found themselves 2-0 down at the break.

The first goal came after just six minutes and it was a carbon copy of the first goal in the league encounter a few weeks ago.

Martyn Sullivan's corner was met by Jamie Brown who rose unchallenged to head into the back of the net.

This sprung Borough into life and Dave Adams should have equalised on 17 minutes but former Albion keeper Mark Ormerod pulled off a good save.

Borough were now looking good but right on the stroke of half time Dorchester got their second when Andy Harris scored with a close range header.

In the first minute of the second half Borough were back in the game when Stuart Tuck unleashed a 35 yard piledriver that beat Ormerod.

Ormerod nearly gifted Borough an equaliser with 11 minutes to go after he completely missed a back pass but luckily for the home side the ball trickled just wide.

Borough kept plugging away until the final whistle but they could not find that vital equaliser.

Wes Lopez scored the only goal as Worthing beat Chichester 1-0 in the second round of the Brighton Charity Cup.

Lopez's third minute strike was his fourth goal for the Rebels since signing from Ringmer.

Recent signing Clay Lamont netted the only goal as second division Shoreham beat first division Southwick 1-0 at Middle Road.

Whitehawk went through 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw with Lancing.

In division three of the Rich County League, Haywards Heath drew 1-1 with TSC.

Andy Turner netted for Heath with Dave Waller replying for TSC.

Crawley Town have extended the loan spell of Boston United striker Gez Murphy until the end of the season.
