In response to Paul Zara, I would like to point out that the people of Brighton are not traditionally against new projects at all.

In fact, there is a history of not objecting to any development at all.

This was part of a long and painful lesson we had to learn and years of living with the results of our inaction.

For instance the Kingswest centre, the Thistle Hotel and the Aquarium Terrace development.

Now we know that the design of a project really does matter and all Brightonians are asking for are decent designs that enhance the communities they are placed in and add to the wonderful range of architecture we already enjoy.

Most people would love to have these sites developed but they now realise there is more to these things than bricks.

Just give Brighton some good designs and then see how much we object. We shouldn't have to accept a second-rate design merely because it generates the most profit.
