Eastbourne Borough will meet Lewes in the final of the Sussex Senior Cup in May.

Borough produced a superb display to beat Brighton and Hove Albion Reserves 2-0 in last night's semi-final.

The game was delayed for a quarter-of-an-hour when Priory Lane was hit by its second floodlight failure in three weeks.

Brighton finally agreed to play with the lights below full strength.

With the fierce wind behind them, Borough dominated the first half, opening up the Albion defence almost at will.

They should have taken the lead as early as the first minute when Matt Allen ran on to a long ball, but with only keeper Will Packham to beat, his finish was weak.

Borough maintained their lively start with John Westcott twice testing Packham in the opening eight minutes.

At 16 minutes, the home side wasted their second gilt-edged chance when a free-kick by Matt Crabb found Ben Austin who fired over the bar from six yards.

Then Westcott's through ball fell perfectly for Daren Pearce but the Borough skipper's lob from the edge of the area cleared both Packham and the bar.

Packham saved one-handed to deny Allen soon after.

Garry Wilson's men continued to attack against the wind at the start of the second half and in the 52nd minute took a deserved lead.

Following a corner on the right by Westcott, Packham got a hand to Allen's effort and Adams fired home from close range.

Albion at last showed signs of fighting back and home keeper Paul Stark did superbly to keep out a fierce 20-yarder from Sean Wilkinson.

It was now the turn of Albion to pile on the pressure in a bid for an equaliser and both David Lee and Wilkinson hit the bar.

The game was finally sealed in the 82nd minute by a spectacular own goal, Mark Jackson heading a Matt Crabb cross into his own net.
