I must respond to Mrs J M Page's comments (Letters, March 8). It is no secret I am an Albion fan and live in Brownleaf Road, Woodingdean, next to Falmer Road.
I am, however, appalled by Mrs Page's inability to think through her comments. If the stadium was to be built at Waterhall, no railway station could be placed there on safety grounds.
This would cause almost every fan to arrive by car, which would mean more use of the Falmer Road than is likely for a stadium next to Brighton University, which already has a station and better public transport links.
The Brighton station land is not available, even the Green Party does not want a stadium there and any stadium would need an integrated transport policy, meaning there must be a mix of park-and-ride, service buses and railway, with limited use of private cars.
The gridlocked roads around the station would prevent this.
The only site that can deliver this mix is within Moulsecoomb, at the proposed location of Falmer.
I suggest Mrs Page and others who share her concerns read the planning application.
They will see the usage of Falmer Road on a match day will be less than during any current rush hour.
-Mrs Carol Lineham, Brighton
