The Argus paid a well-deserved tribute (March 8) to Major General Houghton, a distinguished Royal Marines officer, on his 90th birthday.
However, in the context of youthful command, it is relevant to mention that when No. 6 (Army) Commando returned from Germany to billets in Brighton in 1945, they were led by Lieutenant Colonel Tony Lewis who was 24 years of age when taking over.
