Brighton's gay Pride festival will celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee with a gold and glitz theme.
While leaders of the city of Brighton and Hove have been accused of being lethargic about the jubilee, organisers of Brighton Pride, one of the most popular festivals on the national gay calendar, said they planned to honour the Queen's 50 years on the throne.
Andy Dunton, Pride committee chairman, said the theme was chosen in honour of the Queen.
He added: "Each year, the parade showcases the creativity and campness that Brighton is famous for. Expect the costumes this year to be the brightest and best yet."
This year's event takes place on August 10 and is expected to attract more than 60,000 gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered people with their friends and family.
The event includes a carnival with floats which travels to Preston Park for a festival.
The organisers are determined it will remain free for the public to attend.
