I was pleased to see Jenny Langston (as I have always known her) show the courage to abandon the Tories and join the Liberal Democrats.
I know her best from our time on the county council together, when she demonstrated a real commitment to education issues that won admiration across party lines.
I remember trying to persuade her to come across even then.
She is certainly light years away from the increasingly rabid, unpleasant Tories who now seem in the ascendancy at both local and national level.
Well done, also, to Paul Elgood, who has done really well since his election to put the Lib Dems firmly back on the Brighton and Hove map.
