A shop assistant has told of the moment she came face-to-face with a serial armed robber who targets Brighton and Hove's newsagents and off-licences.

The teenager said: "I was terrified. He was shouting and waving his knife around.

"He made me and my colleague lie face-down on the floor while he took the money.

"I am still shaking from the ordeal and I have hardly slept."

The 19-year-old assistant was working in the Thresher wine shop in Western Road, Hove, at 10pm on Saturday when the raider struck.

Police are linking the robbery to ten others at off-licences and newsagents across the city.

The Argus and Sussex Police have offered a £2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender.

Detectives believe the man, who has put knives to the throats of victims, may seriously injure someone if he is not captured soon.

On Saturday he was wearing a blue jacket and black trousers.

The girl said she had received an email warning about the raids before Christmas but never thought she would be a victim.

She added: "I'm not sure whether I will be able to return to work at the shop."

Police have named a man they want to talk to in connection with the robberies.

He is Sean William Donoher, 36, who has had addresses in Brighton and Hastings. He is 36, 6ft 4in tall andslim with long hair.

Officers say he should not be approached. Anyone seeing him should dial 999.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Brighton CID on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
