Two illegal immigrants have been deported after a taxi driver saw them jump from a moving lorry.
The Polish pair ran into gardens after jumping from the French lorry near the Little Chef on the A27 at Lewes.
Police caught the men, aged 21 and 23, and arrested them on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.
After being taken into custody in Eastbourne, the men were deported.
Police said the French vehicle and its driver were traced and details passed on to immigration officials at Dover where the vehicle had entered the UK through the Channel Tunnel.
Sector Inspector Rex Matthews said: "We received information which my officers quickly acted upon and the result was positive."
