There have been disgraceful delays in East Sussex while women who fear they have breast cancer wait to see consultants.

Figures show the county's figure was one of the worst in England with just under half those women being given an appointment at hospital within two weeks.

But the good news is that all three main hospital trusts in the area say all women are now being seen within the two weeks demanded.

No women who thinks she may be suffering from breast cancer wants to wait a minute longer than necessary before seeing an expert.

Although many breast lumps are benign and treatment for cancer is improving year by year, the disease is still a big killer.

Seeing them quickly should be a top health priority. The signs are that trusts are at last making sure it is.
