I must agree with every word Stephen Prince wrote (Letters, December 6). If business invested in having a good display of lights, this would attract people from other places to see the display and also spend their money.
Some towns have a committee with local councillors and traders to plan displays at Christmas. I've seen better displays on people's houses - if they can spend a little at Christmas, surely the shops and Brighton and Hove City Council can at the festive season?
