Nick Nurse takes his Brighton Bears to London Towers for a hastily arranged Southern Conference clash tonight (6.30pm) aiming for a fifth successive win.

Bears have stepped in at short notice for the trip to Crystal Palace after Manchester Giants withdrew from the fixture amid fears they were about to go out of business.

Towers themselves are in some disarray after the midweek sacking of coach Lino Frattin and Bears will look to take full advantage and enhance their hopes of a play-off spot.

Brighton were originally due to visit Towers in February, less than 24 hours before the Trophy quarter-finals. Nurse, who coached Towers to the Southern Conference title last season, said: "We were keen to take this game, even at such short notice, because we are on a bit of a roll at the moment".

A BBL spokesman said Manchester were "considering their future" but had not yet withdrawn from the competition.

If they do pull out, Bears will invite Worthing Thunder for an exhibition game at the Brighton Centre on December 18, the date Manchester are due to visit.
