Bobby, the truly lovely car parking attendant who oversees the Hanningtons underground car park in The Lanes, Brighton, is one of the sweetest, hardest-working gentlemen.

I don't think he gets much recognition for the job he does.

He stops and chats to everyone with a smile in the early morning and he's still there at 6.30pm, saying goodbye to everyone by name.

He's very kind to the pigeons, some of whom have terrible injuries from being hit by cars or tangled up in netting on roofs and subsequently losing toes and legs.

He's often close to tears when one of his little mates hobbles in for breadcrumbs and cannot fly any more.

It's a shame some of the more high-profile members of Brighton's centre don't have the same decency and respect the Bobbies of this world show to both humans and animals.

Bobby cheers up my day and makes the world a better place in which to live.
