Albion manager Peter Taylor has praised the squad's impressive disciplinary record.

But he has also told his players that he will not tolerate 'silly' offences. The Seagulls have still not had anyone suspended for accumulating five bookings.

The only player banned so far this season was skipper Paul Rogers. He was sent-off for two fouls in quick succession on the opening day at Cambridge United.

"They are an honest bunch of players that want to play football," Taylor said. "They don't want to be suspended."

That possibility is, however, now looming large for four of Taylor's table-toppers.

Simon Morgan, Gary Hart, Paul Watson and Robbie Pethick are all a yellow card away from an automatic one-match ban.

Morgan and Hart have been hovering on the borderline for some time. Watson collected his fourth caution of the campaign against Peterborough last week and Pethick joined him on the danger mark at Swindon last Saturday.

More yellow peril at Bury on Saturday would mean missing the home game against Chesterfield on December 21 and that, Taylor has warned, could be costly.

"I told Gary Hart on Saturday when he got involved in a couple of things he shouldn't have that to miss a game at the moment is dangerous," Taylor revealed.

"The squad is looking decent and if you all of a sudden miss matches through being suspended you may not get your place back.

"I don't want them getting suspended for silly things like dissent or retaliation. I don't like stupid bookings and I don't like people arguing with referees.

"When I went to Gillingham they weren't the best for discipline, but we had a good record by the end of my first season so I have always been very strong on it."

Taylor believes he has sufficient strength in depth to cover for suspensions or a crop of injuries.

"If players are missing that is when you have got to have a very good replacement to come in," he added. "We have got good numbers and most places are covered."

Seats for Albion's televised FA Cup second round tie against Rushden and Diamonds at Withdean on December 8 are on sale to away supporters scheme and Seagulls club members from today until Saturday.
