With reference to the proposed improvement of the area near Hove lagoon (The Argus, November 23), Heather James, councillor for Wish ward, said: "It is outrageous and should not even be considered... This is a public recreation space and it should remain so."
Why is it, then, she and other councillors are trying to turn the smaller of the two lagoon pools into a skate park? Following the arson and vandal attack at the lagoon cafe a few weeks ago and bearing in mind the paddling pool is so near the proposed site, is this a wise move?
Skateboarders will be flying around in all directions, putting everyone at risk. I have seen the vandalism and graffiti caused by the gangs of skaters in and around the skate parks at The Level and Southwick. This is a public recreation space and it should remain so. Refurbish the lagoon in its entirely. Think again, Heather.
