Police broke up an illegal rave and confiscated thousands of pounds' worth of DJ gear after residents complained.
More than 150 revellers took over the car park and beach at Carrots Cafe on Southwick seafront.
People living nearby called police at 12.40am on Saturday, saying their sleep had been disturbed by the loud music.
They feared the event would continue throughout the weekend.
Police sent 12 officers to the site in Basin Road South and the organisers agreed to end the rave within an hour.
Sergeant Ian Cook said: "Officers returned after all the equipment had been loaded into a van.
"They stopped the occupants as they drove away and arrested them for organising an illegal rave and confiscated the equipment.
"The area has been used for raves in the past and because of its remote location there have been few complaints."
