The MS Society Horsham and District branch Charity Golf Day, held at Cottesmore Golf and Country Club in October, was a huge success.
So far, more than £8,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of the public and sponsors who supported the event.
The weather was glorious and the staff at the club looked after everyone very well.
The day of golf was followed by dinner and presentation of prizes to the golfers, then an auction was held to raise further funds. The evening lasted into the early hours.
The branch proposes to use the funds for the benefit of patient members and carers, providing items such as wheelchairs, hoists and holidays, with some to go towards research because there is still no cure for multiple sclerosis.
The branch wishes to thank its sponsors, including the Baulch Group, which printed the glossy brochures, Budgens, which has adopted the MS Society as its charity of the year and provided the polo shirts for the day, and Pat and Norbert Mallet, who are respectively local branch fundraiser and chairman.
Of course, there were many more people involved and their contributions are very much appreciated.
Last but not least, Helen Myram (her father has multiple sclerosis), who works at the Cottesmore, suggested the idea and sowed the seed of an extremely successful event.
Finally, to show the degree of fun it provided, many of the golfers asked if we would be holding another similar day next year.
