Hastings Town boss George Wakeling again used a midweek cup tie as an opportunity to give some of his fringe players a run out.

Town cruised to a comfortable 8-0 victory over County League Division Two Lancing.

French trialist Landry Zahana-Oni hit a hat-trick and Joe Cornwall and Graham Webb both made the most of rare starts to get on the scoresheet.

The other talking point was goalkeeper Dave King's penalty which was saved by his opposite number Matthew May.

Manager George Wakeling was pleased with the contributions of his squad players.

Despite Landry's treble it is unlikely it will earn him a place in the starting 11 of Wakeling's team.

Town are top of the Dr Martens eastern division and Wakeling insists it is hard for him to make changes.

"He has got to earn the right to get in the team," said Wakeling. "He took his hat-trick well but it was against lesser opposition."

Wakeling reiterated that the team are not missing Terry White who abdicated his coaching role to go to St Leonards, only to leave a week later.

Wakeling added: "I feel for him because I tried to talk him out of it. He choose to make a difficult decision and I am choked I couldn't talk him around."
