We would like to thank the 2,422 people who signed the petition, presented to Brighton and Hove City Council, asking it to find extra funds to keep the Hove office of the Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) open.

The CAB was told in September it would receive only two-thirds of the grant money it had had in the previous year.

Unless the council makes an offer of more money by December 21, the CAB in Hove will close and people living in Hove and Portslade will have to travel to Brighton if they wish to use its service.

Brighton CAB is already very busy so it may not be possible for everyone to be seen.

If people are as concerned about this as we volunteer advisers are, we would urge them to write at once to council leader Ken Bodfish and chief executive Dr David Panter.

It is unthinkable, after 62 years, Hove will be without a generalist advice centre in the New Year.
