I read with great interest the article on Eastbourne being the new "place to be" (The Argus, November 16).

My grandparents lived there for many years and my parents and I were regular visitors.

The town was always clean and tidy and standards were kept very high.

The council had a policy of no fast-food outlets on the promenade so as to keep the seafront pleasant to walk along.

My favourite attraction in Eastbourne were the trams at the Crumbles.

Like every other town and city Eastbourne has had to change with the times.

There is much more to do now for young and old alike. It's good to see the Congress Theatre still attracts many big shows and stars.

Even with all the changes made and still being made, there are people who remember the good old days.
