How annoyed I am at the system of Brighton and Hove City Council placings.

My son is Brighton born and bred and, at 17 years old, joined the submarine service. He has always worked and even raised money for the children's hospital in Brighton. He later met and married a girl in Manchester and had three children but the marriage was dissolved.

In March, I was taken ill so he came to Brighton, stayed with my other son and got a job with Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company. He was accepted on the council list after living here six months.

Two weeks ago, he had to move out of his brother's home because he and his wife had their second child and had no room for him. He is trying to muddle through on a day-to-day basis of living accommodation.

It is definitely a case of if you are honest and hard-working, you get no help. It breaks my heart. I have no room for him. The more you do in this society it seems the less you're thought of. If it just let him have a small, one-room flat, the council would get rent and council tax. But no, it does not seem its policy to bring money in.

My son has tried to get private accommodation but deposits and advance payments are so high he cannot afford it.
