I am a 25-year-old Sunday league footballer and played at Braepool on Remembrance Sunday in a cup match.

Although at 11am we were playing, both teams observed a one-minute silence to mark this important date prior to kick-off.

People may have the impression that youth and footballers do not care about remembrance - this is far from the truth. The silence was touching and the standing in a windy field poignant. We did not choose to kick-off at 10.30am and would have preferred 10.15 or 11.02 but, alas, this did not happen. Maybe next year the league will consider moving or postponing matches to enable everybody to show their respects at 11am.

Brighton and Hove citizens would also be greatly encouraged if Brighton and Hove City Council properly organised a ceremony at this time in both Brighton and Hove.
