It is the same old story, isn't it? Someone is attacked in the street and no one does anything ("Racist attack on woman, 66", November 10).

Surely an attacker with rings dangling temptingly from his eyebrow, lip and ears presented an ideal target but, even if the witnesses were unwilling to get involved, they could at least have helped the poor woman on to the bus.

Apparently, in some countries it is an offence to ignore a person in distress.

Perhaps the same could apply here. After all, next time one of the spectators could be a victim.
