Skipper Randy Duck is fighting to be fit for Brighton Bears' big night.

The point guard aggravated an ankle injury in Saturday's win at Thames Valley and will undergo treatment throughout the week.

Bears face Milton Keynes at the Brighton Centre on Saturday (6.30pm) in a match which is being screened live on ITV Sport and in highlight form on Meridian the following afternoon.

Coach Nick Nurse said: "Randy is causing us some concern. We will keep him out of training for a considerable number of days this week.

"He is a tough competitor and it will be hard to keep him out of a game as big as this one."

The clash is already being seen as key to the battle for play-off places in the southern conference.

Nurse expects more than 2,000 fans to cheer his side on and said "It will be the biggest crowd ever for basketball in Brighton."

Bears' trip to Thames Valley in the Championship has been switched from December 1 to January 19 because of Tigers' cup commitments.

Meanwhile, 40-point star Albert White is being tipped to break the half century with Bears.

White's haul, the best by any BBL player this season, helped Bears to a first win in six years at Thames Valley on Saturday.

Now coach Nick Nurse, who rates White the best player in the BBL, insists he can do better.

Nurse said: "I have been talking almost daily about the calibre of player Albert is and what he needs to become.

"He is going to have a 40 or a 50-point night. He is that good."

White's haul is believed to be the best by a Bears player since the mid-Nineties, though Jon Gaines twice fired 38 against Thames Valley three seasons ago.

Brighton's score of 108 represented their first three-figure haul, excluding games going to overtime, in 91 matches, dating back to the 101-69 mauling of Tigers more than two years ago.
