A summary of more than 13,000 objections to controversial waste plans will be published next week.

Names and addresses of protesters to the first draft of East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council's waste local plan will be recorded on the list.

Most of the complaints focus on plans to underpin the waste strategy with incinerators, rather than promoting ways of cutting back on waste and increasing recycling.

Protesters are concerned about the possible health implications of building burner plants in the county.

The two councils have considered all of the objections and aim to publish a second draft of the plan in the spring.

An independent inspector will then conduct a public inquiry, expected to be held in autumn next year, to consider any objections which have not been resolved.

Councillor Tony Reid, lead Cabinet member for transport and the environment in East Sussex, said: "We're publishing this list to provide objectors with an opportunity to identify others who have made similar objections.

"They can consider whether they would like to make a joint representation when we publish the second draft for consultation or at the public inquiry."

The summary list of objections will be available at 13 council offices and town halls from Monday.
