Crawley Town went second in the premier division after an impressive 2-1 victory away to Bath City.

Reds got off to an amazing start.

Billy Smith's side went a goal up after just 90 seconds as Gary Kemp slid in but lost the ball to Steve Restarick who put Warren Bagnall clear and his cross was looped over Bath keeper Mark Hervin by midfielder Danny Carroll.

It was Bagnall who doubled their lead on 13 minutes, as he lashed the ball home from close range.

Dave Harlow almost added to the tally soon after but saw Hervin tip his drive over the bar.

Bagnall and Restarick should have increased Crawley's lead either side of the break before Bath pulled a goal back in the 55th minute when Brad Thomas headed in Jamie Gosling's centre.

Both teams had chances to score further goals but Reds held on for an important 2-1 victory which aids their promotion hopes.

Hastings Town maintained their unbeaten away record with a hard earned 0-0 draw at Bashley in the eastern division.

With four regular players missing Town still had the better of the exchanges especially in the second half when they dominated for long spells.

Paul Jones went close for Hastings after only four minutes when his shot was blocked, and Tommy Osborne saw a good effort saved by home keeper Darren Crowfoot.

Bashley relied heavily on the long ball and Mat Jones fired over after running clear.

The second half saw the home defence under heavy pressure but they managed to hold out.

A shot from Paul Jones hit the post with Crowfoot stranded and Danny Simmonds saw his shot go narrowly wide.

Bashley came close to securing all three points in the closing stages when visiting keeper Dave King dived full length to deny Stuart Hussey and moments later Mat Jones headed wide.
