Crawley pair Michael Alldis and Lee Minter were left disappointed at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on Saturday.

Alldis was pulled out of his bout against Frenchman Mahyar Monshipour after four rounds while Minter's professional debut lasted just a minute and 57 seconds before he was beaten by Sunderland's Danny Moir.

Alldis's withdrawal was put down to a damaged right hand but the former British super-bantam weight champion revealed he had also been suffering with illness for some time.

He said: "I had not been feeling too good, and on reflection it was the wrong decision to take the fight.

"It was supposedly a warm-up fight but proved tougher than that.

"It was a bad mistake and it has been a hard lesson learned.

"I have never made one excuse before but that was just not me in there and now I am going to concentrate on getting myself well."

The on-going saga with the man who took away his title back in July, Patrick Mullings, has also been weighing heavy on Alldis's mind with the situation yet to be resolved.

Alldis was never really able to contain Monshipour from the outset of their scheduled eight- rounder, and looked off colour throughout.

Light-middleweight Minter, 25, tried box his way to a win but was stopped by a fine shot.

Brighton lightweight Chill John beat Mark Halstead on points to claim his sixth professional win.
