I was dismayed to learn of the intended move of the breast cancer services from the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, to the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, and wish to lodge my objection to such a move.

Haywards Heath is the back of beyond and people who live there and the surrounding area expect to have to travel for services.

People who live in Brighton and Hove expect to have local services in keeping with a city of its size. Services should increase, not decrease.

I am approaching my 50s and breast cancer is an increasing possibility.

I am a single person and do not have a car. I do not think I would be able to cope with the worries of travelling such a distance by public transport on top of having to cope with the devastating trauma of facing a diagnosis of cancer.

I would probably become one of those people who just don't bother making the considerable effort to go to Haywards Heath for a diagnosis and keep my fingers crossed that things will just go away.
