The former home of the Albion has been turned into a no-go zone by yobs, according to neighbours.

Residents near the retail park in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, where the Goldstone Ground once stood, say up to 40 teenagers gather at night in the car park.

The youths race round the car park in cars or on skateboards late in the evening and during weekends.

Staff at the nearby Burger King restaurant say their customers are intimidated by the youngsters.

Residents fear it is only a matter of time before someone is injured and they have called on the police and landlords to keep the teenagers off the site.

John Levi, of Old Shoreham Road, said the crowds gathered outside the Burger King restaurant, but were barred from going inside.

He said: "I know the manager is fed up with all these kids hanging around at night.

"Some of them race around the car park doing handbrake turns in their cars while others speed around on skateboards."

Meetings are being held between the Goldstone retail park's landlords, the security firm which patrols it and tenants.

Because the car park is privately owned, Sussex Police and Brighton and Hove City Council say they can do little about the problem.

A Burger King spokesman said: "The safety and satisfaction of customers and local residents is a top priority for us.

"Burger King is currently working closely with the police, local landlords and retail park security services to prevent any future incidents."
