About three years ago, Glenn Hoddle lost his job as England soccer boss after making particularly ill-advised comments that disabled people are suffering the consequences of past lifetimes.

That has all blown over but, for many years, UN delegates and staff in New York have attended lectures and meditation sessions by the resident guru, Sri Chinmoy, who expounds with apparent impunity such discriminatory views.

In a collection of his writings, Beyond Within, he predicts that "blind, paralysed, mongoloid, insane" people are in that situation through committing suicide in a "previous life".

It is immensely worrying that the spiritual guidance of such a powerful organisation is being influenced by such bogus philosophy.

What his teachings are on the events of September 11 are no doubt equally offensive.

Mayor Giuliani should kick him out of town.
