So many detrimental things have been said about the National Health Service, I would like to say I really can't fault it.

I have just spent two weeks in the Royal Sussex County Hospital having a knee replacement operation. I was admitted to the Millennium wing and was met with such kindness and help from all the staff, from the surgeon down to the lovely tea lady.

The marvel of all this was the after-care. It's called "Hospital At Home".

Instead of having to stay another week in hospital, you are transferred home and looked after by super nurses, twice a day for two or three days, then once a day for four days.

I can't thank these lovely people enough. They give you support, confidence and friendship.

"Hospital At Home" is, indeed, a newish thing but such a wonderful service.

Thank you all for the medical treatment I received and thank you for the lovely friends I made in hospital.
