One of Sussex's best-known estate agents is expanding its operations along the coast.

Mishon Mackay has taken on an extra three staff in time for the opening of its latest branch in Station Road, Portslade.

The branch will be managed by Darron Middleton with staff Lyndsey Brennan and Sarah Fitzgerald and financial services advisor Gareth Glover.

Partner Glen Mishon said: "It gives us a tie-up from Hove to Portslade, providing us with a good link between the two communities.

"At the moment, there are only two estate agents in that location and a big market to be served, which includes Hangleton, Southwick, and Shoreham."

Mr Mishon insisted the fact house prices were beginning to stabilise had not deterred the firm from expanding.

He said: "The phones are not ringing quite so often and people are being cautious, particularly over the last few weeks, but the important business of buying and selling has to continue.

"We are optimistic about the future."

The new branch occupies the site of another estate agent's office which closed down a year ago.

Mr Middleton, who has worked for the firm since 1997, said the team at the new office had a wealth of experience.

He said: "I feel Portslade and the surrounding areas we cover have really been put on the map over the past few years.

"With the ongoing pressure on the central Brighton and Hove markets, there is a lot of interest in property here."

The agency has eight branches in Sussex and London and employs 50 full-time staff.
