Hove MP Ivor Caplin has joined Labour colleague Des Turner in demanding the breast cancer service remains in Brighton and Hove.
He has called for fresh thinking in the row that has erupted about the future of breast cancer care in the city.
In a letter to Brighton Health Care NHS Trust, Mr Caplin said the proposal to move the current unit to Haywards Heath would lead to serious inconvenience.
He said: "Given the large numbers of women that need to use this service, it seems sensible to review the proposal that this unit should transfer to Haywards Heath.
"I have therefore told the health authority that it should consider land and space that may be available at the Hove Polyclinic at Nevill Avenue. This would be an opportunity to combine facilities within the city and to deliver the type of service we all want to see in supporting the treatment of breast cancer."
