Francis Tonks (Letters, October 6) is wrong when he says you cannot get rid of a mayor, however mad or bad. You can, through the Standards Committee, District Auditor and criminal law.

Francis is wrong to create the impression that neighborhood councils are only possible under a committee system: Of course a mayor and cabinet can have these too.

And Francis is wrong to say a mayor will have all the power to run the city. Major decisions will be taken by full council and minor decisions by mayor, cabinet or officers, just as under a committee system. I guess this is why he represents All Lies For Democracy.
