Is it me, or has The Argus's letters page become somewhat lively of late? Still, with an important referendum coming up, I'm sure it's all for the good.

Let me add to the Simon Fanshawe-Rudolph Giuliani debate from another angle. As a high-profile gay man, I'm surprised Mr Fanshawe has chosen Mr Giuliani as a role- model. Aside from his sterling work since September 11, what else qualifies him to be commended so highly by Mr Fanshawe? During his tenure, Mr Guiliani has led a "moral crusade" to "clean up the city", targeting, among others, lesbians and gay men, attacking their lifestyles and closing their bars and saunas.

Is this really your role-model, Mr Fanshawe?
