Thank goodness Brighton and Hove City Council has removed the barrier at the top of Preston Park.

The people who make it look an eyesore with sticky tape and so on to bar people's way should spend more time caring for their children's safety. The council has helped by putting in traffic calming.

My family walks its dogs there daily. Dogs, like children, can be unpredictable when off the lead but we watch them as these mothers should watch their children.

When these people don't bar our way, I often take two ladies of 88 years of age by car to the disabled spaces near the caf. They love to sit in the sun and have a cake and coffee. They could not walk down and back unaided.

So why don't these irresponsible mothers realise the park is for us all to enjoy, especially older people, and not just for young mums?
