Albion supersub Lee Steele has been taken off the transfer list.

Boss Micky Adams broke the news to the striker in the dressing room following yesterday's fiery 4-0 win against Blackpool at Withdean.

Steele made another stunning contribution after replacing Gary Hart in the first half.

He supplied the second and fourth goals for Richard Carpenter and Bobby Zamora and in-between headed his second in four games for the unbeaten Seagulls.

Adams revealed: "I had a brief chat with him after the game. I have accused Lee of being a talker, not a doer, but this season he has been a doer.

"Steeley thinks he has a lot to prove, but not to me. He is showing the sort of form we brought him here for in the first place and long may it continue."

Charlie Oatway celebrated his comeback from a three-match ban by launching the rout with his first League goal since December 1999.

Oatway, suspended for a controversial red card on Albion's pre-season Irish tour, dispossessed Martin Bullock 35 yards out before scoring with a low shot from the edge of the box.

"They just kept running away and I had to shoot in the end," joked the midfielder. "You cannot imagine how frustrating it's been to miss those matches, but I've had to grin and bear it.

"I've actually done well in the goals department since I've been here. I've got six now, which is double what I usually get so I'm happy with that.

"Goals don't mean much to me. It's not what I am there for, but it was nice to get one."

It was a miserable day for injury-hit Blackpool. John Murphy had a fourth minute penalty brilliantly saved by the in-form Michel Kuipers, then Bullock and manager Steve McMahon were sent-off by referee Ray Olivier once Steele had headed Albion into a 3-0 lead.

Albion's glamour Worthington Cup second round clash against Southampton on September 11 will take place at Withdean and the Seagulls have resisted the temptation to raise ticket prices.

They go on sale to season ticket holders from Thursday, limited to one each, and members of the away supporters scheme from next Monday. Any remaining tickets go on general sale next Wednesday.
