A pedestrian was left with multiple fractures to his legs after a collision with a car on Brighton seafront.
The 27-year-old was walking in the roadway in Madeira Drive at 3.52am yesterday when the accident happened.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
The driver of the car involved, a Vauxhall Vectra, was helping police with their inquiries.
Police said there were five people in the car and it was not speeding.
Officers have appealed for witnesses. A police spokesman said: "There were a number of partygoers in the vicinity at the time who must have seen the incident."
