What is the world coming to? We were astonished to read about one mother's struggle to highlight the insensitive action of Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company (The Argus, August 7).

It was obvious upon reading the front-page article that this issue was swept under the carpet and a closing of the ranks appears to have been instigated.

From a customer service point of view, given the significance of the outcome of this case, the letter from Mrs Wadsworth highlighting Joshua's plight must have been passed or at least brought to the attention of the bus company's managing director, Roger French. To ignore the situation and only respond after a call from his chief executive demonstrates insensivity to the extreme.

We noted in the article that even after making contact with Mrs Wadsworth, no guarantees were made to remove the driver, Robert Carron, from the No 27 bus route. Has this been done?

We have a daughter starting at Cardinal Newman in September 2001. She will have cause to use this bus route. We are seriously considering making private arrangements to take her to school rather than to entrust Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company to take her safely to and from her destination.
