Fatboy Slim's bizarre low-budget film for hit single Praise You has beaten off competition by pop superstars to be named the best video of all time.

Brighton's big beat guru even pipped Michael Jackson's ground-breaking mini-movie for Thriller into second place in the poll, produced to mark the 20th anniversary of MTV.

The Fatboy video, made by Being John Malkovich director Spike Jonze, featured a group of dancers performing to crowds outside a US theatre.

The triumph for DJ Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, comes just days after he landed nine nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards for his Weapon Of Choice video.

MTV is showing the top 100 over three consecutive nights from tomorrow at 10pm.

Fatboy is also releasing a remix of a German record on September 10.

Markus Nikolai's track Bushes was first released on an independent German label in 1999.
