Sussex Second XI beat Pakistan's Touring Academy by two wickets with one ball to spare in a thrilling one day match at Horsham.

Chasing a target of 211 in a fixture reduced to 40 overs a side, Billy Taylor hit the winning runs with a six after Sussex went into the final over from Shaid Shah requiring eight for victory.

It was a well-paced reply by Sussex for whom Jamie Carpenter struck 64 and figured in a fifth wicket stand of 80 with Chris Nash (35).

The Pakistani Academy side, under the direction of Rashid Latif, posted 210-5 after winning the toss with Imran Javed hitting 68.

He put on 101 for the fifth wicket with Kashif Ibrahim, Lewes Priory's overseas player, who made 42.

Medium-pacer Nick Weekes was Sussex's most successful bowler with 2-48 from eight overs.

Debutant Neil Turk hit a valuable 36 in Sussex's run chase as they tasted victory for only the fourth time this season in all cricket.
