It is a sign of how negative - or politically motivated - some of the correspondents to the Argus Letters page are that when Brighton and Hove City Council last year decided to close the children's pool on the seafront, there was a flood of letters written in outrage.

As anyone who has visited this area recently will see, the pool has been replaced by one far better, along with a play area that is both functionally and aesthetically excellent.

As someone who works with younger children, I know what an asset this pool and playground will be to the city.

Yet has anyone written in a single letter to say, "Okay, I was wrong to have a go at the council. The new pool is great"?

No. It's all too easy to moan. What about a few "well done" letters when and where they are justified?
