Has it really come to this? The Albion are as entitled to a permanent football stadium as every human being is to eat a wholesome square meal a day.

Unfortunately, in this world, the latter is not always fulfilled but both are necessary to sustain life. The Albion are being treated like second-rate, second-class citizens.

Miles of countryside as far as the eye can see and not one decent stadium. Surely not a lot to ask? Falmer was a quaint, private little village.

Then along came a bypass, Falmer was dissected and it disappeared. If Falmerites had been given the choice at the time of the bypass or a stadium, I wonder what they would have chosen?

Withdean has been a success story. The club and supporters have got it right and are a credit. The Albion at Falmer would be Falmer's gain and a boost to its community.

The Albion are unique, insofar as their support is extremely widespread, so we are looking to Falmer to satisfy Sussex, parts of Kent, Surrey and Hampshire and further afield.

As a city, we really ought to be leading the way.
