Falmer is not the best site but it is the only viable site.
As things stand, and despite every positive action by Brighton and Hove City Council, the two main players, Brighton University and the Albion, are more than £6 million apart on the price for the land.
In this context, Councillor Bodfish's outburst may have been intended to have been helpful. But it wasn't.
Waterhall is simply not a goer. It is the wrong side of the bypass and will never have a train link.
Tough and balanced decisions have to be made for the sake of jobs and the city's reputation.
It is a shame the pro- and anti-Falmerites are using the stadium issue to grandstand for future political advantage.
Instead, what has to happen is the university must make its contribution to the city by asking a more reasonable price and the club has to come up with more money for Village Way North.
What a shame we don't yet have an elected mayor, someone objective, who could bang their heads together for the good of the city and the people.
