Sussex are ready to pitch Robin Martin-Jenkins back into the front line as they bid to revive their faltering one-day season.
The county were crushed by seven wickets in their C&G Trophy fourth round tie with Lancashire at Old Trafford yesterday.
It was their fifth defeat in the last seven limited overs clashes and gave added significance to Monday's Norwich Union meeting with Essex beneath the Hove floodlights.
A quick-fire half century by Andy Flintoff finally extinguished Sussex's flickering hopes yesterday, but they were on the back foot from the moment they were put in to bat first on a stop/start opening day.
Coach Peter Moores, whose side are flying high in the championship, refused to look for excuses. He admitted: "It wasn't easy for them either to bowl in the windy conditions on the first day. They just played better than we did.
"We are out of two competitions but still in two. It's very important we get things right in one-day cricket quickly.
